This was a great start to the Perot Institute. Topics included creating a hypothesis, defining life, classifications of organisms, and many classroom techniques for student engagement. I was nervous about starting this workshop since I'm a music teacher, but I am dedicated to expanding into STEAM topics in the classroom. Many of the science content ideas weren't necessarily new to me, but I had not thought about them in many years.
I struggled with the lessons that required picture or video upload. That is out of my comfort zone and I went through 3-5 drafts on each picture/video assignment. I'm sure it took me much longer to finish modules as a result.
I'm more curious about different ways to sample the environment. Hula hoops are great, and I'd love to know about any other techniques for marking a sample area.
This is my overview for the entire module, but I've written more detailed summaries for each lesson that included content.
