I have some early concerns about the pooter. If I walk into my classroom and tell the students we are going to build a pooter and practice using our pooters, I will lose all trace of classroom management for the day/week. We'll be calling it an insect aspirator for the sake of their behavior. This reminds me of the time we went to the Perot Museum and saw a blue footed booby in the theater. The potato trap is something I could see kindergarten or pre-k doing. It's good to teach students that nature is not gross.

I think I did an ethogram in environmental science class. We watched a monkey at the zoo for twenty minutes and recorded his behavior. Sadly, the monkey's behavior is not fit for description in a professional blog. Animals don't always do what we want them to do!
